Education excellence

2,000 tertiary students a year by 2030

Education is central to Addu City's future competitiveness, workforce development, and social progress. Strengthening foundational learning through quality early childhood education, upgrading school infrastructure and science labs, and expanding vocational training pathways will align skills with emerging economic opportunities. Building digital capabilities and promoting lifelong learning will ensure adaptability in a rapidly changing world. Together, these investments will create a skilled, innovative, and resilient community.

Targets

  1. Target 9.1

    Attract over 2,000 tertiary students annually by 2030.

  2. Target 9.2

    Introduce a new early childhood curriculum across Addu schools by 2028.

  3. Target 9.3

    Upgrade 100% of Addu City's schools to provide safe, inclusive, digitally connected and inquiry based learning environments.

  4. Target 9.4

    Provide lifelong learning opportunities so that at least 25% of adults participate in professional development or skills training.
